Roger Ebert: Why I Hate 3-D

I stumbled across this Newsweek article by Roger Ebert giving 9 reasons that he, and the rest of us, should hate the way that Hollywood is putting all their eggs in the 3-D basket. (OMG it looks like it's soo close!)

Oscars 2010

So Avatar didn't win Best Picture or Best Director, so there is indeed a God and he may love us afterall. Kathyrn Bigelow became the first woman to win Best Director for "The Hurt Locker", that film also took home Best Picture.

So congrats to her and such. Christoph Waltz is still the most awesome man of the  year, and he got an award saying such (or it said Best Supporting Actor, details)

Avatar Defeated By The Notebook 2?

Jesus has determined that Avatar is no longer the most popular movie in the world. Lilly Kane has the power to end this terrible reign of blue and...shit. Bow before depressing Nicholas Sparks movies, they are our new kings.

So it's official ladies and gentlemen. You have made Avatar the highest-grossing film of all time (not adjusting for inflation).
Pat yourselves on your blue Pocahontas hating backs. So far Cameron's Dances with Blue People has made $1.859 billion dollars.

There, go cry now. Cry like when your dad did that thing in your bikini area, it's essentially the same.

America, I Give Up: Golden Globes Edition

So we have officially sold our souls.  Satan himself, James Cameron has won Best Picture (Drama) and Best Director for Avatar Pocahontas 2. Proving, for once and all, that we just don't give a shit.

Kudos, America.

You've Seen It All Before

No wonder it's selling so well, it's the Pocahontas we've always dreamed of (ie without Native Americans). I can't wait until Avatar 2: Harrah's of Pandora.

Ah, I'm so glad she's expanded beyond her Latina norms. You go girl, etc etc. I tried to do this look years ago and people just made fun. I'm ahead of my time. Yet, James Cameron is making all the money.

America Has Poor Taste Volume 4

The bad news? James Cameron's latest "technological breakthrough" that happens to be  around two hours too long for its own good is the number one movie in America.

The good news? It only  made $73 million. That's less money than Kate Winslet's garters from Titanic.

In other news altogether, I'm declaring a war on Papyrus and any font that looks remotely like it. Allah will destroy you all.

UPDATE: So it has a $232 million worldwide gross, the biggest global opening for a non-sequel in the history of cinema.
